YOGA & CREATIVITY

Creativity comes in many forms - including writing, gardening, sewing, cooking and decorating. Administration, logistical planning and accounting require creative problem solving. The list goes on, and we are all creative beings.

Many of us don't consider ourselves to be creative. This can be due to many reasons, past and present, but generally we find it hard to give ourselves permission and justify the time to do something that lifts our souls. When we are absorbed in a creative project, no matter what, it brings us into the present moment and becomes meditative and healing, a gift of self care.

Yoga and creativity go hand in hand. Both encourage a mindful and deep connection to our inner self. Yoga offers the tools to align the body, breath and mind and offers us tools to work with some of our biggest obstacles as creative beings. When our head is clear and our body is relaxed we become receptive to the abundant creativity within. As our internal chatter subsides, our thoughts gives us access beyond practical considerations, planning, judgement and comparison.  Our inspiration can then come from an intuitive, deeper point of view. As we become involved in the playfulness and freedom of creative expression - exploring colour, texture and shape, we connect to our 'happy place' of peace,

The ability to slow down, still the mind and let our internal chatter subside our thoughts gives us access beyond practical considerations, planning, judgement and comparison.  Our inspiration can then come from an intuitive, deeper point of view.

All of the creativity retreats at the Lotus Room are gently guided giving full support yet at the same time complete freedom. Every session is about the journey and not the end result. No creative or artistic experience is required, just an open heart and a sense of adventure!

'Thank you so much for your wonderful workshop yesterday! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it - the practice, the food and the creative activities. As always it sparked my creativity and gave me some fresh ideas as well as created much needed space for art and contemplation. I love workshops and have been to a few of different ones in the past but yours are my favourite. You go far and beyond in making everyone welcome, comfortable and  provide excellent value.'
