WELCOME - and a little background information...
I first experienced yoga as a young child. My Mum used to come home from her yoga class and share what she had experienced with my younger brother, sister and myself. It was always great fun and generally ended up as a mad circus act, but we always finished with a beautiful visualisation. Smart lady - resulting in the three of us fully relaxed and ready for bed.
I came back to yoga in my late twenties during a challenging time. I will always be grateful that Mum sowed the seeds ready for when I needed them. After a while I understood how yoga in it's various forms supports and soothes the mind, body and spirit, and realised that this was something that I had to share.
Later on I studied with the British Wheel of Yoga for three years, (foundation course and the teaching diploma) and have been committed to ongoing training, research and development ever since. My style of teaching has been influenced by a wide range of yoga styles. Basically, I take the bits that work for me and share them on.
I am grateful to have worked with some amazing teachers over the years, continually enriching my teaching - or sharing - as I prefer to call it. I have also completed several modules along the way, covering the aspects that I have found most interesting and useful.
I have completed the Total Yoga Nidra foundation course, the Satyananda Yoga Nidra module, and Level 1 iRest® teacher training with the Integrative Restoration Institute. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool for relaxation and rest.
I discovered Restorative Yoga a few years ago and worked over five days with with Beverley Nolan, founder of Barefoot Body Training, and qualified as a Restorative Yoga teacher. Restorative yoga is slow, gentle and effective in releasing tension in the mind and body.
Amongst many other modules and trainings along the way, I have recently completed the Sleep Recovery TM (yoga therapy for insomnia and sleep recovery) course and will be sharing that very soon. Considering approximately 25% of us are struggling with sleep and 50% of us will experience sleep issues at some point in our lives, this is a good programme to consider.
Yoga aside, when I first left school I was a student at Loughborough College of Art and Design (now Loughborough University) studying graphic design and illustration. I worked in the industry for a few years and am so glad that I did as this is really helpful for marketing and also the creativity days that I run, combined with yoga. I also trained to be a professional chef which has also been great for when I run the yoga and creativity days with complimentary lunch.
Otherwise, I love photography, experimenting with paint, snuggling with the cat (Rowan) that arrived on our doorstep a few years ago, cooking and walking. Oh and yoga.
